Two-day face-to-face events in Osnabrück on February 15 and 16, 2024

The Forschungsgesellschaft Landschaftsentwicklung Landschaftsbau e. V. (FLL) is organizing a symposium on Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the third time on February 15-16, 2024. This 3rd BIM symposium will be held at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences together with the cooperation partners Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and buildingSMART Germany as a two-day presence symposium on the topic of "BIM in landscape architecture - the digital twin for the green sector".

The first day of the event will consist of a total of 15 specialist presentations, which will provide insights into the current status of the use of BIM in the planning, execution, calculation and invoicing of construction projects. An accompanying exhibition by advertising partners and a poster show round off the program on the first day of the event and offer a platform for discussions and professional exchange.

On the second day of the event, the lecture topics can be explored in greater depth in workshops on software and technologies as well as in expert discussions.

The event is aimed at all persons, facilities and institutions that have points of contact with the topic of BIM in planning and construction projects - e.g. local authorities, landscape architecture firms, gardening and landscaping contractors as well as those working in the field of appraisal and expert services.

Like many good stories, this one is about two strong women who set their minds to something extraordinary: a world congress of landscape architecture on two continents - in Kenya and Sweden - at the same time.

Ruth Wanjiku from Nairobi and Pia Jonsson from Stockholm made it possible. Over 80 nations met from September 28 to 30, 2023, to discuss the current state of landscape architecture across continents.

Association participation

The bdla Lower Saxony Bremen welcomes in particular the addition of § 25 para. 1 No. 1 NArchtG-E, which takes into account current requirements for sustainable planning by adding the phrase "takinginto account theprotection of natural resources". Landscape architects in particular combine knowledge of ecological relationships with planning competence. They bear a significant design responsibility for the state of the natural foundations of life and their interaction with the social and built environment.

Infrastructure of modern sports fields - Trend sports - Exercise in public spaces

Outdoor sports can be so diverse. Outdoor sports facilities, as well as public spaces used for sports and exercise, allow for a variety of forms of exercise and sports. As diverse as the facilities are, the infrastructure needed to support them faces similar challenges in planning, construction, and operation. Sustainability and climate adaptation are of great importance in planning. But design measures that take into account the functional quality of sports also require creativity and innovation. This year's IAKS Germany Outdoor Specialist Seminar will present best practice examples and findings from research, and discuss with participants how to work together to design the sports facilities of the future.

Save the Date - 20.09.2023 - Sustainable use of soil in an urban context

While measures to protect soil are largely regulated in landscape planning and are increasingly being applied, the handling of soil as a resource in the urban context is subject to major challenges within open space planning. From the point of view of sustainability, the storage, processing and reuse of excavated soils should actually take precedence over disposal, assuming a careful use of vacant soil areas. However, sustainable soil management often fails due to the availability of storage areas, despite many efforts on the part of clients and planners.

Improving the quality of life and the environment in residential neighborhoods requires modern urban and open space planning. It contributes significantly to buffering the current consequences of climate change and increasing density through future-oriented solutions. In this context, the management of rainwater is key to the transformation of urban surfaces for the preservation of the natural water balance, flood protection and the reduction of heat stress.
