Head of green space management and garden monument preservation

for the Garden, Cemetery and Forestry Office of the state capital Düsseldorf



EG 14 TVöD



The Garden, Cemetery and Forestry Office of the state capital Düsseldorf plans and maintains the city's green and open spaces as well as cemeteries and forest areas with currently around 600 employees.


The "Lower Nature Conservation Authority, Green Planning and New Construction" department is responsible for safeguarding and further expanding the green and open space system at various planning levels in Düsseldorf.




Your tasks include:

- Management of the department with currently 7 employees with the corresponding service and technical supervision and control of workflows and processes as well as quality assurance

- Technical coordination and updating of the city-wide green space planning on all three levels, including the evaluation of the green space plan "rheinverbunden 2025"

- Professional coordination of open space planning issues in the context of building applications, development plans and urban development contracts and management of internal participation processes

- Examination, implementation and safeguarding of the specialist interests of the garden, cemetery and forestry department in urban planning competition procedures of local and overarching importance

- Representation of the Garden, Cemetery and Forestry Office in interdepartmental working groups for projects with city-wide significance

- Preparing submissions and representing the area of responsibility internally and externally, including specialist representation on committees and projects, as well as communicating decisions and results



Your profile:

- Master's degree in landscape architecture, landscape planning or comparable degree combined with an outstanding interest in urban green development processes

- Leadership skills/ability

- High level of green planning expertise in the context of urban planning as well as comprehensive knowledge of nature conservation, building and planning law

- Confident manner and strong communication skills with very good written and verbal expression, assertiveness and the ability to work in a team

- Social skills combined with a high degree of responsibility and commitment

- Unrestricted physical aptitude for the performance of duties and possession of a class 3 or EU standard B driving license
