Scientific Officer for the Promotion of Seedlings (m/f/d)



Location: Cologne

Position: LVR Department 9: Culture and Landscape Conservation

Remuneration: E14 TVöD

Working hours: full or part-time

Open-ended

Start of appointment: at the earliest possible date

These are your tasks

Cultural landscape projects, events, plant promotion and publications
.


This includes the following activities in particular:



- Management of the "LVR seedling promotion" division

- Management of the LVR plant material database (MS Access, ESRI-ARCGIS)

- Reporting in political committees of the LVR

- Participation in the NRW orchard protection coordination committee

- Virus clearance of fruit varieties in cooperation with the NRW Plant Protection Service

- Advice on the LVR Cultural Landscape Network with the Biological Stations in the Rhineland

- Advice on all aspects of plants, gardens and organic seeds

- Collaboration in projects of the Cultural Landscape Management department, for example in the garden sector (e.g. EGHN, IGA)

- Preparation, implementation and evaluation of events (e.g. Days of the Rhenish Landscape/City Land River, conferences, orchard festivals)

- Editorial and proofreading tasks for publications of the Cultural Landscape Management department

- Training of scientific volunteers

What you bring with you

- A university degree in geography or in the fields of forestry or landscape management or in one of the following degree programs Biology, Botany, Ecology, Agricultural Science, Horticulture and Landscaping, Plant Production, Landscape Ecology (Master's degree, Master's degree, university diploma) or

- Other employees who can demonstrate equivalent skills and experience based on many years of professional experience

- Car driver's license



What else is important to us

- Very good plant knowledge in the field of general woody plants and fruit trees

- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience

- Very good knowledge of nature conservation, the Rhenish cultural landscape and cultural landscape management

- Ability to produce technically sound, stylistically confident and linguistically precise texts

- Confident command of the ArcGis/QGis and MS Office programs

- Project and event management skills

- Skills in public procurement

- Good knowledge of written and spoken English

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to work in a team

- Commitment

- Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends

Who we are

The Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR) is a municipal association with around 22,000 employees working for the 9.8 million people in the Rhineland. With its 41 schools, ten clinics, 20 museums and cultural institutions, four youth welfare facilities, the state youth welfare office and the association for curative education, it performs tasks that are carried out throughout the Rhineland. The Cultural Landscape Preservation Department supports the preservation of the historic cultural landscape in the Rhineland with projects and collaborations. The Cultural Landscape Preservation Department primarily provides services for the member authorities of the LVR, the districts and cities as well as for citizens in the Rhineland. The cultural landscape potential of the Rhineland is recorded, documented and prepared for communication purposes and integrated into overarching nature conservation and landscape management networks.
